Meet Dakota

Hello everyone.  I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine.  Meet Dakota.  Yes he's furry.  No, he's never even talked to me(unless you count his high pitched whining every I arrive at his enclosure).  He has a wet nose and a bushy tail.  Does it matter?  No. =)  I love to consider him my friend.  Almost every time I go to the zoo he'll come up to the fence within about five feet of me.  It's really amazing.
Look at that gorgeous smile! <3

Dakota lives my local zoo with his three sisters, Meeka, Rocki, and Shiloh.  He is the alpha male of their pack, which means he is the leader.  He is distinguishable from his sisters by his larger size and the dark markings on his muzzle and extending down his back and tail.

Dakota has a very sweet personality, fitting for his name, which means 'friend' in Native American.

Love, hugs, and wolves!

Excitement

This is it.  The day that I've been looking forward to all month.  I've dreamed about this the past few nights.  In twenty five minutes I'm going to be in the van on the way to the Memphis Zoo!  I've been experimenting with different ways to take pictures, and I've got a backpack full of cameras, binoculars, and even a little bag of cookies.  I'm prepared!  Last night I spent around fifteen minutes in prayer, asking the Lord to have the wolves cooperate for me and not sleep the whole time. =)  And that my family and our friends that are coming with us will have a great time as well!
I'm going to do a photo post later today or tomorrow with the pictures I take.  I'll also be posting an introduction for each wolf every few days.  Dakota will be first.  =)  I have to get ready to leave now.
May the LORD be with you!

Welcome

Hi, I'm Rachel.  I have a passion for wolves.  I think they are among the most beautiful animals that God has created and I thank Him for it!
During the fall, winter, and sometimes even spring I love visiting the zoo and photographing their wolves with my mom or brother's camera.  I don't have a camera of my own, but I do the best with what I have available and enjoy doing it!
My first posts will be introducing you to each wolf at the Memphis Zoo.  I hope you'll enjoy them!
